UNESCO Teretere’anga Vaka Program
This morning was the official launch at USP of the UNESCO Teretere’anga Vaka Program. A pilot program to introduce Cook Islanders to traditional voyaging. The two week program includes a theory component as well as practical training onboard vaka Marumaru Atua. The program has been developed and will be delivered by Master Navigator and Captain Peia Patai.
The second week of the program involves an overnight sail to Aitutaki where Marumaru Atua will be dry docked for the cyclone season. Meitaki maata to Danielle the Unesco Rep for attending the launch and to Unesco for funding this program. The program will be run in Aitutaki in 2022 with a sail back to Rarotonga for the students.
