It was a squally night with lots of rain. Our speed was not the best because it has been dead calm all night. A slow sail.
Apart from that everything is ok, crews happy.

“When me and my crew were on watch from 3am to 6am I felt really tired but when it was my turn to be on the oe, to take control of the vaka I felt awake and alert because I had to keep our vaka on course. I found it really hard to keep our vaka on course because the swells had picked up and the wind kept changing and hitting our sails from different directions.

I’ve learnt to navigate at night by using the stars and the moon to keep our vaka sailing in it’s direction that we want it to go by the time it was nearly over, I had to wake up the next crew to get ready for their watch. When our shift had finally finished I stayed up for a bit and had hot milo before I went to bed. Part two coming up…”
